So I’ve read this about ten times and I still don’t get it. I guess we’re now to believe that Saddam lied to us about having WMD. As in “I have WMD you Yankee Imperialist Dogs! Please bomb me back to the Stone Age.” It’s getting hard to keep up with all this stuff. First it was the WMD’s, then the liberation of the Iraqi people, then the forty five minute threat, then the yellowcake, then the Winnebagos of Mass Destruction, now it looks like they wanted us to blow them up. Or wait, was it the yellowcake first? Damn this is confusing. I think everyone knows it’s all a load of crap now. Why do they even bother putting out junk like this? The Charlotte Observer: Online Edition As evidence, officials say former Iraqi intelligence operatives have confirmed since the war that Saddam’s regime sent agents disguised as defectors to the West to plant fabricated intelligence. In other cases, Baghdad apparently tricked legitimate defectors into funneling phony tips about weapons production and storage sites. “Then, because they believe it, they pass polygraph tests … and the planted information becomes true to the West even if it was all made up to deceive us,” the senior intelligence official said.
